“habita carmel” program

“habita carmel” program of the pla de barris

MUNICIPALITY: barcelona

YEAR: 2020-2025

PEOPLE HELPED: 700

PROJECT COST: €850,000

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The “Habita Carmel” Program aims to improve the living conditions of homes in the Carmel neighborhood of the Horta-Guinardó district in Barcelona. It targets homes and households in vulnerable situations, offering subsidies covering 75% to 100% of the cost of works. Both interior and exterior interventions are carried out to ensure homes meet habitability standards.

In each neighborhood, the communities are divided into sectors, and each sector is assigned a team of architects who explain the rehabilitation project proposal, addressing conservation deficiencies and energy-saving measures to apply for Next Generation EU Funds. Communities of neighbors must hold several informational meetings and community board meetings to approve the works and secure financing for the non-subsidized part.

The mediation team at Ètic Hàbitat organizes all meetings and boards, provides support for decision-making, and mediates in case of conflicts. They also assist in finding financing for the non-subsidized part and ensure the process complies with current regulations.
